Sometimes, the best conversations don’t happen in meeting rooms. They happen over dinner, during a long drive, while singing karaoke, or simply while walking together between activities.
From 18–20 June, the Melchers Thailand team travelled to Chanthaburi for our annual Company Outing. It was a chance to take a break from our daily routines, spend time together outside the office, and reconnect,—not as colleagues with job titles, but as people.
And as always, those few days reminded us that strong teamwork is built just as much outside the workplace as it is inside.
Getting to Know the People Behind the Job Titles
In the office, we’re often focused on deadlines, meetings, and getting things done. On this trip, things slowed down a little. Instead of talking about projects, we found ourselves sharing stories, laughing over meals, and discovering new sides of colleagues we’ve worked with for years. It’s amazing how quickly relationships can grow when everyone has the chance to relax and simply enjoy each other’s company.
Those moments may seem small, but they make a real difference once we’re back at work.
Learning Together Beyond the Office
One of the highlights of the outing was a team workshop designed to help us better understand ourselves and the people we work with every day.
It wasn’t about finding the “right” personality type or providing perfect answers. Instead, it encouraged open conversations about different working styles, communication preferences, and how each person contributes to the team.
The workshop gave us a fresh perspective on one another and reminded us that our differences are often what make us stronger as a team.
A Meaningful Stop Along the Journey
During the trip, we also visited the Mangrove Forest Learning Center in Rayong, where the team took part in an aquatic species release activity.
It was a simple experience, but one that allowed everyone to spend time outdoors, learn more about the local ecosystem, and share another memorable moment together.
While it wasn’t the focus of the trip, it added another meaningful experience to an already memorable few days.
The Moments We’ll Probably Talk About the Longest
Of course, no company outing is complete without good food, plenty of laughter, and a little karaoke.
Some of the best memories came after the scheduled activities had finished—sharing dinner, cheering each other on during karaoke, and having conversations that probably would never happen during a normal workday.
Those relaxed moments help build friendships, and those friendships naturally carry over into better teamwork back in the office.
More Than Just an Annual Trip
Our Company Outing isn’t simply a few days away from work. It’s an opportunity to strengthen relationships, build trust, and remind ourselves that behind every project is a team of people who genuinely enjoy working together.
We know that successful teamwork isn’t built in a single workshop or meeting. It’s built through shared experiences, open conversations, and the small moments that bring us closer together.
A big thank you to everyone who helped organise this year’s outing, and to every member of the Melchers Thailand team for making these three days such a memorable experience. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
