As composite materials become increasingly common in modern aircraft, knowing how to inspect, assess, and repair them effectively is more important than ever.
The Composite Repair Seminar & Expert Forum for MRO 2026 brought together aerospace maintenance professionals, composite repair specialists, engineers, and researchers to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and discuss the challenges of composite repair in real-world MRO environments.
The seminar brought together the Singapore Institute of Aerospace Engineering (SIAE), GMI Aero, C. Melchers GmbH & Co. KG, Melchers Aviation Service Pte Ltd, and Republic Polytech as collaborators.
From Technical Knowledge to Practical Application
Throughout the seminar, participants explored the latest developments in composite repair technologies and practices through technical presentations, application examples, live demonstrations, and hands-on sessions.
The sessions went beyond theory, showing participants how to apply new technologies and repair methodologies in real-world Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environments.
By combining technical knowledge with hands-on experience, the seminar offered practical perspectives that participants could take back to their everyday maintenance work.
Learning from Real-World Repair Cases
One of the highlights of the forum was a series of complex composite repair case studies that industry experts presented.
The sessions covered key stages of the repair process, from inspection and damage assessment to repair planning and execution. Drawing on real repair experience, the speakers shared practical approaches to challenging scenarios and how maintenance and engineering teams can manage them while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and airworthiness.
Sharing Knowledge Across the MRO Community
With many participants working directly in composite repair and aircraft maintenance, the forum created plenty of opportunities for open technical discussion and knowledge sharing.
Beyond the formal presentations, participants exchanged best practices, operational experience, and lessons learned from their day-to-day work. These conversations brought different perspectives to the table and allowed professionals to learn directly from others working in the field.

Connecting Global Expertise with Local MRO Needs
At Melchers Thailand, we actively encourage our customers to participate in technical seminars and industry events that provide opportunities to expand their knowledge and gain practical insights.
For this seminar, we brought engineers from Bangkok Airways and AAR Thailand to Singapore to participate in the sessions and exchange knowledge with composite repair experts. They learned directly from industry specialists, explored practical repair approaches, and gained insights they can apply to their work in the local MRO environment.
As part of the Melchers network, C. Melchers (Thailand) Ltd. supports the local aerospace and MRO community. We connect international technologies, technical expertise, and industry partners with the needs of the Thai market.
Through collaboration with technology providers and aerospace specialists, Melchers Thailand supports customers with solutions for real-world maintenance challenges — from composite repair and MRO technologies to technical knowledge and application support.
Strengthening Composite Repair Capabilities Together
The seminar showed how much industry experts, researchers, and MRO professionals can learn when they come together to share knowledge and experience.
With technical presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and real repair cases, the Composite Repair Seminar & Expert Forum for MRO 2026 provided a valuable space to learn, exchange ideas, and strengthen composite repair capabilities across the aerospace MRO community.
We look forward to continuing these conversations and supporting the advancement of aerospace MRO together.
